It’s not the mad who laugh when all goes wrong
It’s the ones whose hearts are full of song
Lines and melodies written in the valleys below
Where countless seeds they did sow
That through storm and snow still grew and grew
Not because they had something to prove
But because the One sending down rain
Is the very One who says the mad are sane
Declaring those who give everything up
Are those who will always have a full cup
And those who count their lives as dust
Are the ones in whom He’ll put His trust
To bring heaven down to earth
And give drink to those who thirst
From the wells they’ve allowed to be carved
Deep into their souls, all pride and greed starved
See, the valley shows what is actually real
Beyond what the flesh may think or feel
Beyond what the ‘sane’ of the world proclaim
That vengeance is theirs and they’re never to blame
No, the meek will be the carriers of glory
Whose faces shine with evidence of a story
The greatest story the world has ever known
Where the King of kings left His throne
To make it possible for His own to never be alone
So that when faced with trials and darkness and death
Joyful laughter would be on their breath
Gazing at the One they love
Who has seated them much higher above
See, the valley is much more full of life than one thinks
It’s where the cool water collects for one to drink
And drink and drink and drink so deep
To become the well of the meek
Where the world will gather to see
The miracle of man made truly free
Not careless or unattached and with no bitter seed
But desperately in love with the One who frees
